EVALUATION OF CRITERIA ON TALKING COCK.COM.

Purpose

Purpose is the main focus for this website as it literally speaks out the oblivious yet obvious trends and culture of a true singaporean here. The websites itself aims not only to mock politicians(which is quite a taboo to say in public here) but to mimic what residence and people living in here. This pupose is not intended to a biased one but to let people not only in singapore but all over the world to view their observations and experience as it is.

coverage

They have put up not only articles, but also comics to convey and focus each kind of unique behaviour that singaporeans do and act. The usage of words are strong and raw to put their point across on what they are trying to describe on a certain ways which singaporeans only really gets it.

Coverage is important as it helps to show how they are related to one another.

EIR CLOSURE

Honestly, I have learnt alot of things in EIR class itself. Before I went into this class, my method of finding information or website is to blindly click anything that looks decent in search results page and open them with many tabs.
Now, I started to be more conscious of what i am typing searches and finding results as I have realised in this way I have save an ample amount of time by just doing the effective and good way to search facilities.

I have also realised there were some basic features ( like FAQs,About us, author /owner of the site and the last updated date of the site) that i did not take in account of when I am browsing the websites. These features help me to evaluate the websites and how accurate and precise these websites are. Now that I have notice how important they are, I never fail to look up any of these features whenever I am browsing websites.

MY DREAM MAGICAL HOLIDAY is.........

CATALONIA, SPAIN
There are many beautiful towns, urban and suburban places in Catalonia. I have places that I am really attracted to but the most breathtaking and to-die-for places in Catalonia to me is Barcelona and Cadaques.

BARCELONA

Park Guell

A view of Barcelona from the terrace of the Park Güell, by the famous Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí ,who is infamous for his Modernist style (Art Nouveau) movement, as well as the buildings of the foreground, taken during sunset.
He also built Sagrada Familia which is also located inside this area too (will be mentioned later).

WHY?

Its dream-like landscapes and scenic view is captivating.

Its beautiful interesting architecture surrounding each corners of the streets.
The sunset reflects the pastel-like colours of the terraces which reminds me of swirling ice cream which makes it so calm and relaxing.

Sagrada Familia

Sagrada Familia means" Expiatory Temple of the Holy Family

This monument used to be a sacred holy place (church) which was initially built in 1882. Suprisingly, the whole building is not completely constructed and is scheduled to be completed in 2026.

WHY?

I love the detailed and intricate patterns which makes the building itself look as if it is a piece of art.
Its massive gothic architecture is unique and one-of-A-kind.

A preserved building that looks priceless and of infinite worth.

Cadaqués

Cadaqués is a town located in Girona province, Catalonia . It is on a bay near the Cap de Creus overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. It is a few hours distance to the capital city, Barcelona, and therefore it is very accessible and not only attracts tourists, but people who want a second house to have on the weekends and summers.

WHY?

The tranquility atmosphere and its rural settings brings inner peace which makes me feel at home.
Believe it or not, the place is so speechlessly beautiful and hard to believe that many artist have come to this shore to relax and gain inspiration.One of those were the infamous Artist Salvador Dali, who often visited here in his childhood, and later built a home near to the sea; Pablo Picasso were mesmerised by the simplicity of the view and Mei Fren, a local artist, who still have artworks exhibiting in museums that are trully inspired by Cadaques in remembrance of his childhood.
Whether it is an advantage or not, Cadaques is occupied by a small number of population and out of any hustle and bustle in the city, which makes this place so serene and good for relaxation.

Purpose The purpose plays an important role when viewing a website because it enables us to give an overview of what the whole website is all about. It is also helps to identify or spot the intention of the whole website which in turn might help in outweighing the biasness or quality of the website.
For this site, the purpose is to show and give further information to people who are intended to visit Spain. It allows readers to have a better picture on what Spain is like.It is also aim to attract "future tourist" to come and explore the country.

Coverage I also looked into its coverage to find out whether the explanatory text and the pictures given are cohesive and accurate. It helps to show whether the whole website itself is credible and accurate.The use of download options and the type of format of files also plays an important role for the whole image website as these options help readers to retrieve images or video much eaiser and quicker.

Authority
It is better to look for an authorised websites like from a certain organisation and foundation like this (spain.info) because auhoritative sources aims to give a factual and accurate information more than giving personal thoughts.
Having to know who is responsible for the website,this helps to tell where the texts and images come from and what is the main intention for the website.

Accuracy and Currency
The frequent updates and edition also indicates that the images are all have been up-to-date and the information given has been changed from time-to-time. These also indicates where the website is still active or not.

Presentation and Arrangement
A simple image layout without any unnecessary and irrelevant information or pictures help readers to identify subjects and individual postings.
The colours used in the image layouts itself helps to attract readers and give an impression of the overall direction/style of the photos.

HMMM... I have roughly listed down many possible pros and cons for using different types of search engines. (will further edit later:) )

INVISIBLE WEB(DATABASES)

-provide One-Of-A-Kind article which gives unique perspective/ overview of a certain topic.

-Don't have to find and compiled all the datas I've found as most of the thing that has been written are all there.

-It is written by specialists who are expertised in a certain field or authors who have written many books or even some documents that are published by the government itself.This serves as a credible tool as it is already ensure trustworthiness -not just another tom, dick and harry.

-Databases are human compiled, so the search results has been "check or examine" by people who knows something about that certain topic.

-more inclined in aiming to provide the factual or correct information.

SEARCH ENGINES, META-SEARCH, SUBJECT DIRECTORIES

-have many choices from many views, which might not be as credible as they are ambiguous to one another.

- will only get a portion of the information needed after a thorough search, so it is a little time consuming.

-some articles might be written by any random person who might not know that much in a ceratin field as some of the websites did not even credited.

-Subject directories might be more credible as it is human compiled, but it only shows one side of the answers needed for the topic.

-Each of the portal serves not only for information but to advocate, news ,marketing and even for personal purposes. However, this type of information might be important as it might help to agree/second a stand or prove something in some parts of the article.

Since databases are more trustworthy as compared to other types search engines,

-as it is the fastest way to get info, accesible, efficient.(don't need to beat around the bushes, to get to a certain point.)

-the information are able to be trusted as citation and bibliography are stated in the article itself.
-Give information on where to get the articles from as they provide document code.

There are loadful of search facilities out there for people to use them to find what they want to search.They are not there to be made as your homepage, they are your friends who search for you answers whenever you need help.

As an official friend to search facilities, I have visited many search engines like Google, ViVisimo, Mamma, Yahoo and metacrawler for help. Each of them have a different techniques in searching, and how they are more inclined to a certain subject. Each of them also search based on different kinds or relevancy. Searching many search engines means that i will get different types of searches and these help me to cover a certain topic in all different angle.

THE NEEDS OF SITE FEEDS.

As you can see on my blog, I have a couple of site feeds written all over the page. With these site feeds, so I don't need to lift everything from the whole website to my blog and this makes my blog clutter-free and easier to read as view can able to follow my blog throughout.

It also allows people who view my blog to have an easy excess to the webpage I have introduced to them and this helps them to discover the information they wanted on their own.

Site feeds sometimes serves as a citation and bibliography too, which is great so that it answers to viewers questions on where I found my information and all:)

GOOGLE THE GOGGLE.

I am well-impressed by google search function as I find they are systematic in the way they find searches. Their services provide functions like email, online mapping, language tools, advanced search, social networking and even video sharing services. They even have Google Scholar to have an easy excess to any subscription articles with direct relevancy to factual information of the subject.

On top of that, they even have advertising programs to help people to showcase their products/subjects more efficiently. This program also help to save cost as it is only charged by number of people who had viewed the advertisement, as compared to other medias like television, newspapers and radio; whereby they charged by time taken of the whole ad, size, colour, how frequent the ad is being shown on these media. This feature, to me, is very clever as people nowadays are more inclined to online media, so they need not have to waste any unnecessary cost on advertisements.

The most interesting feature that caught my attention is the "I'm Feeling LuckyTM" button which will directly take to the first search result, ignoring the search engine result page. The search engine will return the perfect match the first time without having to page through the search results.This means that less time searching for web pages and more time looking at them.

FORUM SO...UMMM...

Actually, this is my first time writing a formal forum, so yep, I feel quite nervous and scared as I'm afraid with my "casual" language use, they might not take my opinions and queries seriously.After looking for a decent forum, I looked at the bulletin post, I find that not many people have visited to the forums as some forums doesn't even have comments on them. Better still, some of the queries and comments made were not even updated and recent. By the look of this, I expect I might not get any reply soon, but who knows:)

CITATION's A MUST.

It is absolutely important to write citation and bibliography to show that the article/book written is lifted and copy to a personal work for references. These bibliography helps a personal work to be more credible and trustworthy. Adding a citation/ bibliography and "highlighting" them to your personal work shows your appreciation to the author's work, more importantly to the author himself. To me, writing a citation and bibliography shows my personal gratitude towards the author, like say, thanking him for sharing his findings and knowledge of a certain topic.

WHY Digital Camera?

"A picture worth a thousand words"

I think that sums it all, since I didn't have a digital camera right now.
I love to try taking pictures and beautiful sceneries/ landscpes.
I love how I have the power to "control" the pictures (lighting, sharpen, blurred,etc.)
I don't have photographic memory, so I need one. :)

Purpose of this website?

After reading many reviews from many website,besides its product availability and its pricing, I realised that the purpose of this website is to market and reach out to people to buy the camera at their website.It also aim to give people an idea of how good the item is,given with the pricing and bargain that is proposed to them.

In this site, I realised they also give recommendations and choices to help their potential customers/buyers to have a look at other offers and related items that are selling in the website.They also shows the ratings and reviews of people who tried the featured item to show their items are at certain standards and good enough to use.This will further "tempt" people in buying their products and probably lured them to have a look on other affordable items shown on the website.

Comparisons between different shopping websites

I have actually visited alot of shopping websites in the process of choosing the right camera for me. Yup, they have about the same purpose of opening a shopping website, which is selling items and having more people to buy. But i came across a couple of between these websites I have seen and these are some of the features that i find interesting, or rather quite similar.

There are also some icons and basic features each time i see (business/marketing) shopping websites like this. Firstly, they have shopping cart icons to help people over the world to have a easy access in paying the items of their choice via online.

On top of that,they also listed the basic features of each type of the cameras shown in the websites. This helps them to compare with other item types/models. There are also reviews and ratings to show that there are many people who have tried the items sold to them,
giving their overall and personal comments of the whole camera. This makes the item sold to websites more reliable and yet unbiased which makes the item featured more trustworthy.

However, there are some differences in the websites I have visited. One of the few websites I visited is that they provide 1-year warranty and even extended on-site warranty to provide the customers with a full satisfaction with their sold items. This helps to lured back the customers and gain their interest in investing their cash to buy other items that sold in the website itself.

Some of the websites shows amount of latest stocks they had in store and giving the lowest bargain in town, while others have limited rare items to sell but only sold to a higher bidder. This bidding technique help to gain vast profits in lump sum.
